I'm from Omaho, NE. We are Pam's family from Lake Mac and skiing. She was our taxi driver, cook, babysitter , counselor and our 9 X 13 casserole queen!! We'll sure miss her smiling and greeting wave as we would arrive at the Amtrak Train Station in Winter Park. We would squeeze and stuff and pack and then add some more luggage and people until the van would level the snow from the train station to the condo. The aroma of soup, chips and taco bean dip would fill the air and our tummies!. Then the box of wine (with some water) , laughter and fun would begin. Stories to share, reminisce and "catching up" on everyone's life were "par for the course." Pam's condo in Dillon was the origination of "our family" in 1983. Did you know a 1000 square foot condo could sleep 20+ people? Trent slept on

Comments:I was one of many who showed up on Pam's doorstep in 1978 (bottle of wine in hand) to crash at her place. Pam was a friend of my sister and I was new to Denver. I stayed with Pam for a few days while I was getting familiar with Denver... and that was the start of a fun and beautiful relationship. I moved from Denver to Vail after a few months, giving us the opportunity to frequently visit each other and terrorize both Vail and Denver. In 1985, Pam considered taking a trip to St. Maartin with me but things didn't work out and she didn't go. I met my future husband (Guy) on that trip. When he finally met Pam and I told him that she almost accompanied me on that trip, he said it was a good thing that she didn't go... because "he didn't know which one of us he would have chosen!" To Ric and Randi and the rest of the Porter clan, my deepest sympathy... my thoughts are with you. And to all of Pam's many, many friends, I share your loss. I almost feel like I'm in a fog since receiving

Comments:Pam was one of 35 classmates that graduated from the U of Iowa dental hygiene program in 1968. All 35 of us were friends and we had so much fun. But no one had more fun than Pam. Pam always knew that after college she would make Colorado her home. She was a wonderful friend to her friends and family. And she had so many friends to keep track of. We will certainly miss her kind heart and party spirit sprinkled with her big smile and laugh.

Comments:I remain stunned and heartsick to hear of Pam's sudden passing. We were classmates in the dental hygiene program at the University of Ia. and have kept in touch all of these 40 years since we graduated. I know of no one who loved life more than Pam. The exuberance and zest for life one often finds in college students for too many fades with passing years. Not so with Pam! I know in my heart that life for her was an ongoing party to be celebrated daily. I admire her for always following her heart to happiness instead of chaining herself to goals of materialism that bog down the majority. How wise she was to know that it was leaving dental hygiene, traveling everywhere and surrounding herself with priceless friendships that gave her life meaning. I know she would tell us all she had a ball and had no regrets! I won't forget that lesson. I mourn that Pam had to leave the bounds of earth alone when so many would have loved to have held her tight on this final journey. I pray

Comments:On Wednesday I was traveling on I90 to Minneapolis when I saw an exit for Rock Valley. Immediately I started thinking of Pam and all the great times we had since meeting her in Geneva in 1968. It wasn't 10 minutes later when I received a call from her childhood friend (and because of Pam my good buddy) Jon Pettengill, telling me of her death. Like everyone I was just numb. Pam had just presided over the guest registration at my daughter's wedding reception on May 31st. "Aunt" Pam had babysat my little girl and watched her grow up. There are a 1000 memories: crashing at the Pam / Wendy hostel in Geneva, our trip with Jon to the Greek islands, helping her move into her house on Ogden, countless Chrismases spent with Jon and the Slothowers. I remember Pam getting mad at me for eating every (and I mean every) cashew in her Christmas party mix. She was the one who remembered all our birthdays and was always making clever presents - and who could ever rhyme all their Christmas newsletters. L

Comments:Then there was the time, probably around 1980 when Pam cooked & froze Thanksgiving dinner so we could have T-Day at my parents condo in Vail. I flew in from Cincy with another friend, landed during a Denver snowstorm and was met by Pam and her dentist friend. She already had his truck packed for the long weekend in Vail and had decided to drive straight to the mountains because of the storm. In the open truck bed, along with our very frozen dinner, she had an empty refrigerator box which she insisted on riding to Vail in because we couldn't all fit in the truck cab. Porter was dressed in her ski clothes and her rabbit coat. Yes, her rabbit coat - the one she also did snow angels in. We made it to Vail, stopping every so often to make sure she was ok. It was a wonderful Thanksgiving. My family has loved Pam since we first met in Geneva and she spent much time with us in Vail. We were proud of Pam and all she had accomplished...and the stories she could tell.

Comments:What a dear friend Pam was! I'll never forget our long talks (so easy when she lived a few blocks away, but still great on the phone, etc. ), her help with projects (she made everything seem so easy), her many interests, creativity, friendliness, parties, and joie de vivre. Pam was a real sport, always up for anything, and did everything so well. She's probably helping organize Heaven now and being a guardian angel to many.

Comments:I am so sorry to hear about your family's loss. I met Pam over a year ago and can still remember her warmth and kindness. She made me feel so welcome as if we had known each other for years. I remember her beautiful backyard, listening to her stories and hearing her describe all her amazing treasures in her basement. She was a kind soul and I know that she will be truly missed!! My thoughts and prayers are with your family!

Comments:The first recollection I have of Pam Porter is staying at her apartment in Geneva, it was in the early 70s, we, the group from Zurich down for the weekend, had a great visit and naturally short sheeted her bed in thanks (Think Pam was skiing that weekend and we didn't even see her. What a consummate hostess.) We saw each other over the years, not often but I guess our friendship was like her friendship with many others. It didn't matter how long it was between visits the friendship lasted and just picked up from that moment and continued. I visited her when she moved back to Denver. Think she was sharing a house with two others. Her house on Ogden was the first destination when I brought my boyfriend Steve (now husband of 27 years) to Colorado in Nov 1978 for a test run. They liked each other and that was a good sign. Naturally we corresponded annually at Christmas and she came up to Minneapolis to attend a Halloween Party that I had one year and she and her Mom looked us up wh

Comments:I still can't believe that Pam is actually gone. I remember that Pam always was there for everyone. She was up for anything. I remember the great backyard party that Pam when I visitedDenver about 6 years ago. She did it with such ease, and it brought together people who I hadn't seen in such a long time. I have another vintage Pam story to share. I was getting my teeth cleaned in Cincinnati by Marty White. We were talking about our connections about Denver. Then we both started talking about that wach of us had a friend in Washington Park. We started to talk more about the person, and I asked who she was talking about. of course, we were both talking about Pam. It's not going to be the same with on Monday. I'll be tasting to Pam with some Cincinnati friends. Pam, you were the beest!! I'm going to miss you!! By the way, I met Pam 30 plus years ago when she lived with Ann and Jan.

Comments:The photo of Pam in the pool was taken several years ago in Puerto Vallarta,Mexico. My husband, Dirk and I enjoyed Pam's company and she was mesmorized by the beauty of our time share, Ocho Casadas. This is the last year @ Ocho and we will all have a margarita in Pam's memory. She had been painting at my home for the last week or so, she called at 8am and said she was not feeling well. After explaing her symptoms I told her to call 911, well, she said she would be fine..She was so strong. My friend of36 years, you will be missed.

Comments:I met Pam 20+ years ago and felt I had a friend from the first time. She always made me feel so welcome. When I bought my home she took cuttings from her beautiful gardens to help me get mine started (never looked as good as hers though). Her talents were endless and kindness unmatched! We shared road trips, ski trips and golf outings but the best of all was friendship and talking over a glass (or two) of wine for hours about everything! Met Mom but feel I know the whole family. Pam never forgot a birthday or a friend and I will never forget her!!!!!

Comments:I taught with a friend of Pam's, Mary Jo Buckley Krauss, and we took ski lessons together at Arapahoe Ski Basin. Then I went to parties at their place and went to the College Inn together. Mary Jo became my roommate when Pam went to Switzerland. Then after Mary Jo married and Pam came back, she became a roommate with Ann Robinson and I. We lived together for a couple of years and then Pam bought her little house. We always kept in touch and I was hoping she would get to come to Florida and see all my quilts. Our interests were about the same, cooking, gardening, sewing and entertaining. She will be sorely missed by her many friends and especially my husband, Joe, and I. I'm so glad we got to enjoy lunch together last fall. She never forgot my birthday and anniversary. Loved those Christmas letters. May God take care of her for all of us.

Comments:I will never forget when I first met Pam. It was about 9 years ago golfing at Mt View on a league. When Pam told me that she "paints" since retiring as a dental hygenist, I asked if it was flowers, landscapes, etc. She said no, walls, ceilings etc! Pam wound up doing a lot of painting for me-businesses and rentals. Of course, Pam didn't just paint. She would fix anything that needed fixing and clean anything that needed cleaning. Pam was so considerate and she never forgot anything or anyone! I have so many memories of Pam-things she made(every year of the Mountain View women's golf league she handmade a gift for each person!). I have shared more than one glass of wine with Pam as I am doing now with a lot of tears. I will miss Pam's yearly Xmas letters and hearing about her family. I never met them, but knew all about them. She looked forward to the reunions they had. Her painting partner Susan and Pam were quite a team, so I know Susan is hurting now. I will really miss Pam-an awesome "painter" and a great friend.

Comments:I first met Pam in Geneva, Switzerland. She welcomed me, a newcomer, introduced me to the other dental hygienists and generally was the social director the 2 yrs. I was there. Her apt. was grand central station, people stopping in for a night or two or just passing through Geneva wanting to say hello. Her door was always open and she had more friends than anyone I've ever known.Pam was such a fun person to be around. My husband and I were able to attend her big "50" birthday celebration. She was always up for anything. I will miss her poetic christmas letters. She will be greatly missed. thanks for all the great times, Pam.

Comments:Pam was a dear childhood friend, who I babysat for a few years and then she babysat for our children while at U of IA. Her parents (Al and Jean) were among my parent's (Harold and Skip)best freinds. Over all these years we've kept in touch. I am simply shocked. How can such a beautiful, vibrant woman be called home so early? What a loss to us all. Pam, you were one very special woman!!
